Editorial Policy
How we choose topics, research and fact-check articles, label opinions and estimates, keep advertising separate and update content.
Last updated:
Our aim is to help readers in India understand money matters accurately and without hype. This policy explains how we work.
Educational, not advisory
We explain how financial products, rules and concepts work. We do not tell individual readers what to buy, and we do not publish tips, return predictions or promises of financial outcomes. Articles are general and do not consider any reader's personal situation.
Sources
We rely on primary sources wherever possible, including:
- the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC);
- the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI);
- the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI);
- the Income Tax Department, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs and the GST portal;
- official Union Budget and government publications.
Each article lists its sources at the end. We do not invent statistics, quotes, rates or citations. If we cannot verify a claim, we leave it out or clearly say it is unverified.
Facts, examples, estimates and opinions
We separate these clearly:
- Facts are stated plainly and supported by sources.
- Illustrative examples use simplified numbers to explain a concept and are labelled "Illustrative example".
- Estimates are labelled as estimates and are not guarantees.
- Opinions are labelled "Our view (opinion)".
Time-sensitive information
Tax rules, interest rates, limits and regulations change, often every year. Where an article depends on a rule that can change, we say which period it applies to, point readers to the official source, and avoid quoting rates that change frequently. We review time-sensitive articles after major announcements such as the Union Budget and RBI policy changes.
Review process
Every article goes through research, drafting, a fact-check of figures, rules and links against current official sources, and an edit for clarity before publication. Where a named editor has reviewed an article, the review date is shown at the top of the article.
[OWNER_TODO: Describe your actual review process: who writes, who fact-checks, and how often articles are reviewed. Only claim steps you really follow.]Use of automated tools
[OWNER_TODO: State accurately whether and how AI or automated tools are used in research or drafting. For example: "Some articles are drafted with the help of AI writing tools. A human editor reviews, fact-checks and edits every article before publication and is responsible for its accuracy." Keep this statement true.]Independence and advertising
Our editorial decisions are independent of advertisers. Ads are served automatically by Google AdSense and are clearly labelled "Advertisement". Advertisers do not review or approve articles. We do not accept payment for coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content or use affiliate links, it will be clearly labelled at the top of the article.
Conflicts of interest
Writers must disclose any financial interest or relationship that could reasonably be seen to affect an article. Where relevant, disclosures appear in the article.
Updates and corrections
When we make a substantive change to an article, we show an "Updated" date. When we fix a factual error, we follow our corrections policy.
